Spiritual Attacks: Jinx, Hexes and Curses …What you can do to remove them, and how to stop them.

A hex, curse, and jinx are not the same, although many use them interchangeably.

A JINX for example, can come as a result of evil eye or your own actions.

A HEX speaks of wishing total chaos on a person's life to break everything or particular things a person may have down such as money, love, job, etc. Think the infamous line "Until you do right by me, everything you think about is going to crumble." - Whoopi Goldberg In 'The Color Purple'.

A CURSE must be cast and can feed off the individual including those around them. A curse is extreme and can affect bloodline until it is broken. A curse can be generational.

Understanding Spiritual Attacks

One of the biggest misconceptions in the spiritual community is that every setback is a curse. Sometimes life is simply life. Sometimes our own choices create obstacles. Sometimes our own fear creates limitations. Other times, however, spiritual influence may be involved.

Learning the difference between a jinx, a hex, and a curse allows you to respond appropriately instead of reacting out of fear. Not every situation requires heavy spiritual warfare, and not every spiritual attack is equal.

The stronger the work, the stronger the intention behind it. The stronger the intention, the more energy is often required to remove it.

What Is a Jinx?

A jinx is generally considered the lightest form of spiritual interference. A jinx can occur intentionally or unintentionally. It may be created through jealousy, envy, gossip, negative attention, or the evil eye. In many traditions, a person doesn't even have to know they are sending harmful energy. Their emotions alone can create enough energetic pressure to disturb another person's life.

A jinx can also be self created.

Negative self talk, constantly expecting failure, repeatedly speaking defeat over yourself, refusing opportunities because of fear, or continuously dwelling on negative outcomes can slowly create energetic patterns that begin manifesting in everyday life.

Common signs of a jinx may include repeated minor inconveniences, frequent bad luck, things constantly breaking, losing items, increased arguments, unexpected delays, financial leaks, or feeling unusually heavy without a clear reason.

Because a jinx is generally lighter in nature, it can often be removed through spiritual cleansing, uncrossing work, prayer, protection work, cleansing baths, smoke cleansing, floor washes, and correcting one's own thoughts, speech, and behaviors.

What Is a Hex?

A hex is intentional spiritual work directed toward creating disorder, obstacles, or destruction within specific areas of a person's life.

Unlike a jinx, a hex usually carries focused intention.

The individual performing the work may seek to interfere with relationships, finances, employment, reputation, business success, health, communication, or emotional stability. Some hexes are designed to create confusion so the individual unknowingly destroys opportunities for themselves. Others are intended to create constant delays, blockages, arguments, or repeated failures.

Depending on the tradition, a hex may be performed through candle work, ritual objects, petitions, personal concerns, graveyard work, poppets, spirits, or other forms of magical practice.

People experiencing a hex often describe feeling like every area of life begins falling apart at the same time. Opportunities disappear, relationships become strained, finances decline, and problems seem to multiply faster than they can be solved.

Removing a hex often requires more than one cleansing. Repeated uncrossing work, spiritual baths, house cleansing, reversal work, road opening, protection work, ancestor support, prayer, and maintaining spiritual discipline may all become part of the process.

What Is a Curse?

A curse is generally viewed as one of the strongest forms of harmful spiritual work.

A curse is intentionally placed upon an individual, family, bloodline, business, or even land with the purpose of causing long term suffering or destruction. Unlike a temporary spiritual attack, curses often continue feeding until they are identified and broken.

Some traditions teach that curses can be inherited through family lines. These are commonly referred to as generational curses or ancestral curses. Others believe curses may result from broken spiritual oaths, unresolved ancestral actions, violations of sacred agreements, or intentionally cast magical work.

A curse often affects more than one area of life and may repeat itself across generations. Families may experience the same addictions, poverty, abuse, violence, infertility, early deaths, failed marriages, chronic illness, or repeated misfortune generation after generation.

Because curses are considered deeper spiritual conditions, removal often involves extensive cleansing, uncrossing, reversal work, ancestor healing, breaking spiritual contracts, prayer, offerings where appropriate to one's tradition, protection work, and continued spiritual maintenance over time.

Breaking a curse is rarely viewed as a one time event. Many traditions teach that it is a process requiring consistency, discernment, and rebuilding spiritual protection afterward.

How Do Spiritual Attacks Gain Access?

Many traditions teach that spiritual attacks become easier when there is an opening.

These openings may include prolonged fear, obsession, addiction, unresolved trauma, constant conflict, broken boundaries, spiritual neglect, jealousy surrounding your success, sharing too much with the wrong people, participating in spiritual practices without proper knowledge, or willingly inviting energies you do not understand.

Some practitioners also believe personal concerns such as hair, nails, photographs, clothing, handwriting, or bodily fluids can be used in magical work when they fall into the wrong hands.

Regardless of tradition, strengthening your spiritual foundation is considered one of the greatest forms of protection.

Protecting Yourself

Protection is often easier than removal.

Develop a consistent spiritual practice. Pray regularly. Keep your home spiritually clean. Cleanse yourself before negativity builds. Set healthy boundaries with people who constantly drain your energy. Pay attention to your intuition. Be mindful of what you share publicly, especially during periods of growth or manifestation. Keep protective tools spiritually maintained and work with them intentionally rather than treating them as decorations.

Not Every Problem Is a Curse

One of the biggest mistakes people make is assuming that every setback, every illness, every argument, or every difficult season is the result of spiritual attack. While jinxes, hexes, and curses certainly exist in many magical and folk traditions, they should never be your first conclusion.

In many traditions, the first step is divination.

Before beginning uncrossing work, reversal work, or attempting to remove a curse, a skilled practitioner will first determine whether spiritual work is actually present. Divination helps answer important questions such as: Is this spiritual? Is this simply a difficult life lesson? Is this the result of my own choices? Is someone intentionally working against me? What type of spiritual influence, if any, is involved? Most importantly, what is the proper remedy?

Sometimes the answer has nothing to do with a curse.

You may simply be grieving. You may be burned out. Poor financial habits may have led to financial hardship. An unhealthy relationship may have reached its natural ending. Ignoring your intuition, refusing to set boundaries, repeating unhealthy patterns, or avoiding necessary change can also create obstacles that no amount of spiritual cleansing alone will fix.

Likewise, not every unusual experience is evidence of spiritual attack. Strange dreams, periods of emotional heaviness, spiritual awakenings, shadow work, and major life transitions can all feel uncomfortable while still being a natural part of personal and spiritual growth.

This is why discernment is one of the greatest spiritual protections you can develop. Fear clouds judgment. Discernment brings clarity.

If divination reveals that no spiritual work is present, then your energy can be directed toward the true solution rather than fighting an enemy that doesn't exist. If divination confirms that spiritual interference is present, you can then choose the appropriate cleansing, uncrossing, protection, or reversal work based on what is actually happening rather than operating from assumption.

True spiritual practice is not about living in fear that someone is always attacking you. It is about developing enough wisdom, intuition, and discernment to know the difference between a spiritual attack, a life lesson, and the natural consequences your own actions.

Burn frankincense tears, or any protection or evil eye incense as an offering.

1. Steep herbs in boiling spring water (you'll need quite a lot of water, perhaps a gallon). Allow the water to cool. Strain and set the herbs aside for use in another conjure. Pray Psalms 51 over your water, herbs, egg and tools.

2. In the bathroom, light two candles, dress them both with Uncrossing oil. Chime sized candles are best. You will use Psalms 91 at this time.

3. Make sure you are already clean or shower first. Take egg and rub it all over your body from head down. While doing so imagine the egg trapping any unwanted energy inside. Imagine the egg pulling the energy off of you. Encapsulating the negative energy. Undress, if you haven't already and step into the tub or shower, and douse yourself with some of the hyssop water. It is best to pour it over your head, but if you cannot don't concern yourself.

4. Step out of the tub and allow yourself to air dry. Anoint yourself with the smoke from the incense while you air dry.

5. Dress in clean clothes.

6. Take the remainder of the water and use it as a wash around your windows, door openings and door handles.

7. If only doing for one day allow the candles to burn all the way out. Do not blow them out, but monitor carefully. (Need help figuring out how many days you should cleanse, click here Spiritual Numbers: The Meaning Behind Sacred Timing in Spiritual Work).

8. Take the egg and break it at a crossroads. Or break in toilet and quickly flush. Then add some salt to the toilet water and flush.

9. To make this even stronger, perform for 13 consecutive days. You may pinch out the candles and use them on the other days.

This work should be planned ahead of time and performed with consideration.
